Malheur, 2019


A ranch not far from Malheur's headquarters
Three years ago, here in eastern Oregon, there was a poorly designed cast at Malheur headquarters. Badly informed, badly prepared, armed men came here from other states and created a stalemate that lasted about 6 weeks. The Great Basin is a powerful place and you shouldn't rely on your cell phone to work. You need to put the phone down and watch the melting snow fill flat spots. We saw probably 10 species of waterfowl here.
